Despite elevated infections in the region I visited the two pubs I frequent. Just one more time before they close for at least 4 weeks. It felt like some bitter sweet wake with friends. Knowing well that some may not survive the next 4 weeks making the entire visit a sort of goodbye.
While my spirits was optimistic during this evening, now at home the reality is slowly setting in and there may no coming back from this.
Everything I know is a lie. 😞
Thanks to the Youtube recommendation algorithm I stumbled on this documentary on the UK Sound underground music from the late '80s/early 90's till now, how it progressed over time and its influences.
Having listened to the earlier works in the early 90's it might explain my migration into the D&B scene ~10 years ago was effortless and felt natural.
Surveillance capitalism is the same as climate change, but for data:
- Some people have been warning about its consequences for years
- Most people don't care because they don't feel concerned, they can't see it affecting them
- A few companies are making a lot of damage with the help of governments
- When we will face the consequences it will be too late
- We can still do something about it, and the sooner the better
I went to the #ejabberd chat channel and got pointed to https://git.chinwag.org/chinwag/ejabberd-auth-mastodon
This solved all my issues in one go. 🙂
My mastodon user/pass are also the same user/pass for the jabber server! ❤️
Licaon_Kter or Licaon Kter, if you ever read this; thank you!
While this may be funny, I did make me wonder if ones seniority can be determined by the reliance on #StackOverflow (or sources outside the documentation in general for that matter). 🤔
I am trying to have an instance of #ejabberd authenticate against this #mastodon instance using ejabberd external authentication mechanism. The intent is to create and manage users in Mastodon and automatically offer (group)chat functionality via XMPP using the same credentials.
I still need to write the script that does ext.auth, but I figured out that the contents of users.encrypted_password field in the database can be compared using python3's bcrypt.checkpw() function.
So far so good. 🙂
Hi all, a quick #introduction! 🙂
After having spent some time on different FediVerse instances using a plethora of nicknames I have decided to finally setup my own instance. I do unix and AWS Cloud things, I play videogames and play around with software, see how it works... and how it breaks. 🙂
I intend to hook Mastodon up to Mumble and ejabberd and provide chat and voice services for friends and family. More to follow!
A UNIX and AWS person. Sometimes geeky or lost in thought.
This is a private instance for members of the Ligthert family.
